Biodiesel Process

The process that transforms ordinary vegetable oil into biodiesel fuel that can be used to power your vehicles and machinery is called transesterification. Transesterification may sound like a complicated scientific term, but it describes a very simple process that doesnt take higher education to understand. At EvolutionBiodieselKits.com, we provide all of the instruction you need along with our easy to use biodiesel processor kits.

Most of the process to create biodiesel is done within the biodiesel processor itself. All you have to do is add the appropriate ingredients: vegetable oil, methanol and your catalyst--either sodium hydroxide (lye) or potassium hydroxide (KOH). The methanol and sodium or potassium hydroxide are combined in one tank of the processor to form a new compound, and then that compound is pumped into the heated vegetable oil in the other tank on the processor so the chemical reaction can take place.

The Length of the Biochemical Process

At EvolutionBiodieselKits.com, we have several different processor models. Capacity and processing time varies depending on which model you choose. Our Farm Boss Processor kit can make 230 gallons of biodiesel in a day, whereas our Mini-Ester Processor kit can make 13 gallons of biodiesel in 8 hours.

Consumers with conservative fuel needs can easily manage with one of our smaller processors, but we recommend the larger machines for farms and businesses that operate multiple vehicles. You can make up your initial investment in your biodiesel processor more rapidly if you process large quantities of biodiesel. If you are interested in purchasing a large biodiesel processor but fear you wont be able to consume the amount of biodiesel required to break even on your investment, consider starting a co-op with other people interested in sharing the costs and the fuel.
