Biodiesel Methods
When you buy a biodiesel processor kit from EvolutionBiodieselKits.com, you'll be able to make gallons of biodiesel fuel with very little effort. Our straightforward methods for processing biodiesel take all of the guesswork out of the process and make it a fun and easy project anyone can accomplish.
The first step in creating biodiesel is obtaining the necessary ingredients: vegetable oil, methanol and sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide (KOH). Methanol, sodium hydroxide, and KOH can be bought from chemical suppliers and other retailers, but there are two different methods of obtaining vegetable oil. You can buy straight vegetable oil (SVO) from a food service supplier, or you can make a deal with a local restaurant to take their waste vegetable oil (WVO) off their hands.
Biodiesel Methods for Processing
Once you have obtained all of your ingredients, performing the chemical reaction required to create biodiesel is a simple matter of following the instructions we provide for our processing method. First, you pour the filtered vegetable oil into one of the tanks on the processor and the methanol and sodium hydroxide or KOH into the other. The processor then heats the oil and mixes the ingredients together so the chemical reaction can take place.
The next part of the processing method requires waiting the requisite amount of time--usually 8 to 14 hours depending on which processor you choose--for the biodiesel to separate from the glycerol. When the separation is complete, you simply drain the glycerol, allow the processor to wash, dry and filter the biodiesel. There is no simpler or more user-friendly method for making biodiesel fuel yourself.
